Alumni Events & Gatherings
Building new, healthy friendships and relearning how to have fun sober helps to keep you engaged and happy in your recovery, which is why we offer monthly events to help you do just that. Our events are an opportunity to go outside of your comfort zone, rediscover your passions, give back to the community, and form lasting bonds.
Giving back to the community not only helps others but also strengthens your recovery by helping you cultivate a sense of gratitude. By helping you discover a new purpose and feel more accomplished, volunteering places you in a more positive frame of mind that fosters personal growth, emotional development, and spiritual strength.
Alumni with at least a year of sobriety who help new alumni transition to life outside of treatmen by helping them get to support groups and 12 Step meetings, as well as establishing a support network.
Additional Recovery Resources
Staying connected to a strong support system provides invaluable benefits when recovering from substance abuse. Peer support group meetings provide you a safe space to share your feelings, emotions, setbacks, and successes, and help you gain additional perspectives on challenges you may face and advice on how to overcome them. Most of all, peer support groups remind you that in recovery, you are never alone.
For additional help and support beyond Mountainside, we recommend reaching out to these organizations as well:
- Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) – If you are recovering from alcoholism
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) – If you are recovering from drug addiction
- Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA) – If you are recovering from substance abuse and mental illness
- SMART Recovery – If you are looking for a science-based alternative to 12 Step
- Women for Sobriety – If you are a woman struggling with drugs or alcohol
